“Mesmerising cinematic experience”Escape Mattster

The Thames Tunnel at The Brunel Museum in London was the world’s first underwater tunnel, and Deadlocked Escape Rooms have collaborated with The Brunel Museum to create our most cinematic adventure yet.

What starts as a simple task of helping contractor Joey Beamish with some network tests soon explodes into a time travelling romp through the true stories of the Thames Tunnel.

  • 12 minutes of high quality video creating what we think is the most cinematic virtual escape room ever.
  • Approximately 90-120 minutes of puzzle filled gameplay.
  • Based on the true history of the Thames Tunnel (N.B. Time Travel may be a little artistic license)
  • A tonne of fully voiced characters and in-character hints available throughout.
  • Start and stop whenever you want. Your progress is automatically saved in case you need to break for any reason.
  • You’ll have the entire internet at your fingertips for your sleuthing, and nothing is out of bounds.100% of the proceeds go directly to the charity (minus credit card fees to the banks).
  • 1-6 players, playable exactly how you want; either 1 person sharing screen or everyone logging in to experience everything themselves!
  • Accessibility options for colour blind players and subtitles for those that need/prefer them.
  • This family friendly online escape room is suitable for players age 11+

Awards and Accolades

We’re delighted to share that Tunnelling through Time, our online escape room adventure, has won Best Online Game at the 2021 Bullseye Awards.

Every year the Bullseye Awards, organized by Escape the Roomers, recognize the best games played by their reviewers throughout the year. In 2021, a team of 14 reviewers played over 12000 games across four categories: “In-Person Escape Rooms”, “Live-Hosted Games”, “Tabletop Games” and “Online Games”. The winners were announced at an online awards ceremony on 30th December.

The game has been designed and built by Deadlocked Escape Rooms, boutique live Escape Room company and one of the pioneers of virtual escape rooms. Their previous game ‘The Cyphstress’ won ‘Best Digital Escape Game’ at the International Bullseye Awards in 2020, and they have strived to make the most cinematic transmedia digital escape game in the world for The Brunel Museum.

Inspiration from the puzzles is drawn from real moments in the history of the Thames Tunnel. Escapees have to complete a number of tasks ranging from dinner party seating arrangements, a coconut shy, and some internet sleuthing.

Charlie Bond, one of the games creators said, “We’re thrilled” and went on to thank the Museum for bringing them in to create the game.

The game was also shortlisted at the 2022 Museum and Heritage Awards
