Julian was involved with developing the Brunel Museum Reinvented Project in 2020-22 as Heritage Manager. He is now back with the Brunel and says, ‘It’s great to be back to manage the delivery of this brilliant project and I’m looking forward to working with the museum’s staff and volunteers and the design team getting the project delivered.
The Brunel Reinvented Project will conserve the historic engine house and create a new welcome pavilion, improving access, visitor facilities and providing a home for us to display the collection of Marc Brunel’s beautiful Thames Tunnel watercolour designs. Once completed, we will also be able to offer a wider range of events and activities for the community and the wider public. Alongside building elements of the project we will be supporting and developing our staff and volunteers.
Julian was an archaeologist in London for 16 years excavating all over London including Rotherhithe before starting in heritage project management. He has over 20 years of project management experience in the historic building and museum sector, initially at Museum of London where he was Head of Capital Projects, and in the past 10 years working with numerous small and volunteer-led cultural organisations helping them develop and deliver lottery funded heritage building projects.
