Can you dig it?
To coincide with our new display, Groundbreakers, exploring the stories of the hundreds of intrepid men who constructed the Thames Tunnel, drop in to our Tunnellers’ Tales object-handling desk to find out!
Was digging the Thames Tunnel the worst job in the world? This May half-term, put yourself in the shoes (literally) of the brave workers who dug the Thames Tunnel. They faced disgusting conditions, terrible smells and even the odd explosion or two! Families and children of all ages are invited to roll up their sleeves, get hands-on with props inspired by the Victorian era, and bring history to life with this interactive experience.
Tunnellers’ Tales is aimed at children aged 7-11 – But younger and older siblings are very welcome!
Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult during their visit. This activity is led by volunteers, and is thus reliant on volunteer availability.
Included with admission to the Museum during May half-term.
