Paperweight made of perspex, encasing a brick core sample taken from the walls of the Thames Tunnel during refurbishment works carried out between 1995-97 to strengthen the Tunnel and provide a new lining.

These paperweights were given as gifts to those who had worked on the project. The legend on the paperweight reads:

Thames Tunnel Constructed 1824-1843 by Sir Marc Isambard Brunel Refurbished 1995-1997 by Taylor Woodrow Civil Engineering Ltd.
