Join us at the Brunel Museum this summer for National Playday 2025, a fun-filled celebration of creativity, community, and sustainability, part of our Summer of Sustainability programme.

This year’s theme is all about upcycling crafts, also known as creative reuse: the art of transforming waste materials and unwanted items into imaginative new creations.

Our main activity will be led by Sunny Jar Eco Hub, a brilliant social enterprise inspiring low-waste living through hands-on, eco-friendly workshops. Their activity will give families a fun and easy way to learn about sustainability and creative reuse.

In addition to this, children can get involved in a variety of open-ended making stations. From crafting top hats, flowers, and tunnels, families will be able to play, try things out, and make their own creations with recycled materials.

We’re also delighted to welcome back London Bubble Theatre’s Rotherhithe Shed. As a highlight of the day, they’ll be showcasing their Stephenson’s Rocket, a fully functional engine built from a mobility scooter. Great for photos and videos!
Families are welcome to bring a picnic and relax in the Museum’s outdoor Piazza during the day.

Playday is the national day for play, celebrated every year across the UK to champion the importance of play in children’s lives.

Admission is free / Drop-In / Booking recommended.

Funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
