Research Policy
Research is vital to all the Brunel Museum’s activities. Research into collections held by the Museum, whether carried out internally or by external researchers, informs the Museum’s ongoing curatorial work — including display, cataloguing, and conservation — as well as more wide-reaching programmes and initiatives such as learning and community relations.
The Museum’s approach to, and support for, research is outlined in its Research Policy. This also lists the Museum’s current priority areas for further research.
Research Access to the Museum's Collections
The Museum welcomes requests for access to collections in its care for research purposes, broadly defined. However, as a very small organisation with little dedicated space for researchers, this must be managed sustainably and equitably.
We ask in the first instance that researchers complete this access code of conduct, and send it to hello@thebrunelmuseum.com with a list of the objects they wish to access, their topic of research, and potential dates for carrying out the research. We will make all reasonable efforts to accommodate requests, though access to objects may sometimes be restricted by curatorial or conservational requirements.
