The Big Give’s Christmas Challenge 2025

Support us and see your donation doubled!

The Brunel Museum is delighted to be taking part in this year’s Christmas Challenge with The Big Give!

Double the difference you can make this Christmas. Between 12pm (midday) 2nd December and 12pm (midday) 9th December, donate whatever you can to our fundraising campaign, and thanks to The Big Give your donation will be doubled – magic!

Help us sail past our first target of £7500 – please donate if you can, and share our campaign page with your friends as soon as we go live.

What’s happening?

At the Brunel Museum we’ve built up a vibrant and thriving families programme in the last few years, welcoming more than 800 under-16s a year to explore the engineering history of the Thames Tunnel and its relevance today. But to plan our 2026 programme, we need your help!

We know that families have been among the hardest hit by the cost of living crisis, especially in Southwark, so we want to keep running our much-loved families programme for free.

For the 50k under-16s living in Southwark, they are growing up in a vibrant and exciting borough – but also one facing major deprivation challenges. Over 20% of children in Southwark are growing up in low-income households, making it harder to access expensive events and venues. Engaging with STEM in fun & accessible ways at a young age can be a crucial predictor of STEM careers in adulthood, and the creativity and determination of Southwark’s children may form the engineers of the future.

Family Fun in 2026

Your support will help us to:

  • Run Party in the Piazza Community Festival: a family-friendly outdoor community festival, organised in partnership with students from the Bosco Centre’s student committee.
  • Offer free museum entry and family activities as part of Open House London events in September.
  • Take part in Kids In Museums Digital Takeover Day, inviting children and young people into the museum to take over the site for the day.
  • Run our popular Tunnellers Club and Wild Things family clubs, 6 sessions of each throughout the year.
  • Take part in National Play Day in August, celebrating the importance of play in children’s lives by offering fun STEAM-related activities.

How can you help?

We’re aiming to raise over £7500 between 2-9 December – so we need all hands on deck!

If you’re able to donate, we’ll be very grateful (and remember – The Big Give will double anything you donate, helping us to reach our goal twice as fast). Our huge thanks to the Reed Educational Trust and to the Brunel Museum’s own supporter network, who are making it possible to double your donation.

If you’re not able to donate, please share our campaign with your own friends and networks – we can do this together!
