Dana Skelley OBE appointed the Brunel Museum’s new Chair of Trustees

Dana is a well-known figure in the world of London’s Infrastructure management – she is a Chartered civil engineer with a wealth of experience in rehabilitating London’s historic transport infrastructure. She has led the refurbishment of many of London’s Thames crossings including Bazalgette’s Battersea Bridge, Thomas Page’s Westminster Bridge and Sir Alexander Binnie’s Blackwall Tunnel. Dana was awarded the Surveyor/ICE Engineer of the Year Award in 2006 and was honoured with an OBE for Services to Transport in the UK in 2016. As a member of the 100 Years of Women in Transport Board, she has worked with government, Transport for London and the Women’s Engineering Society to encourage females to take an interest in Engineering.

Dana is a strong advocate of the STEAM framework (science technology engineering arts and mathematics) and believes the Brunel museum with its rich history and newly acquired art and photography collections can and will become a global exemplar of the STEAM agenda.

Dana is a Council Member and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation – a foundation that fosters educational and innovative approaches to advance the art and science of highways and transportation.

She has Chaired a number of National Boards including the UK Bridges Board and been professionally consulted on National and International operational and transport issues ranging from the UK’s salt shortage in the 2007/8 winter to apprenticeships and the Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy.

I look forward to working with my fellow trustees, our vital volunteers and the management team to take forward these chronicles about the people, their ingenuity, and their perseverance that delivered this wonder of the world.’
